Professionally trained and licensed social workers (MSW’s) offer a comprehensive program to assist family members with grief issues.

The program includes individual counseling, support/educational groups,one-on-one pairings with a trained bereavement volunteer, a bereavement-focused newsletter (Journeys), educational programs for the community, and Camp Comfort, a summer camp for grieving children.

All support group meetings are held at the Mt. Evans Hospice offices, unless otherwise indicated.

Adult Grief Services

Adult Grief Support Group
An eight-week support group for adults who are grieving the death of a loved one. Group members discuss coping styles and share experiences of the grief process. Please call 303-674-6400 for dates and times of the next eight-week group.

Bereaved Spouses Grief Support
A monthly drop-in group for adults who are grieving the death of a spouse. This group meets the second Thursday of every month, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A light dinner is provided.

Candles Support Group for Parents Who are Grieving the Loss of a Child
A monthly drop-in group for parents who have experienced the death of a child. This group meets the first Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

xxx Support Group for Parents Who Have Lost a Spouse
A monthly drop-in group for parents (of children under the age of 20) who have lost a spouse. This group meets the second Wednesday of every month from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and child care is provided.

xxx Support Group for Friends and Family of Suicide Victims
Mt. Evans has joined with Heartbeat, a national suicide survivors organization, to offer a drop-in support group for friends and family members of suicide victims. Third monday of each month, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Individual Counseling and Referral
Mt. Evans’ licensed social workers are trained in grief and loss issues and provide short-term counseling to individuals who are grieving a death. For those needing long-term assistance, our staff can refer you to a specialized professional if necessary.

Bereavement Volunteers
Specially trained volunteers are assigned according to an individual’s specific needs. Volunteers are available by telephone and for home visits, as needed.

“Honoring the Empty Chair”
A seminar for grieving adults who need help in coping with the holidays.

Children’s Grief Services
Camp Comfort
This award-winning weekend bereavement camp is designed to meet the unique needs of children ages 6 to 12 who are grieving the death of a family member or friend. Camp Comfort offers children a supportive environment where they can gain an understanding of grief and loss.
